African Rites of Passage: The Birth Rite

It has been quite a journey to find and follow through with a family that wants to walk through this process: to walk together to this memorable time in our recovery as a community as we reclaim elements of our past and bring them current to heal our community and ourselves today. We have had fits and starts, and changes of plan, but a new path forward in the Light is arriving.

We are beyond excited to honor the first Welcome to the Planet Family! They represent our collective hope for bright future for our children. Think of everything a family and a new child will need over the next 18 years to ensure that the child arrives at adulthood fully equipped to take charge of her/his world. Then, let's give these things to the family in the place of designer clothes, toys, or other things that will break or become obsolete.

On November 16, 2024, this beautiful family and their community will prepare the path for the arrival of their new family member. This welcome will embrace the traditions that we have been able to research or remember, and will honor the whole path of the child's ancestors across continents, from Africa, to the Caribbean, to the United States,
